The University’s online store sells merchandise, books, course equipment, staff/student activities, professional development events, and services. It functions as an online marketplace solution where over 600 vendors from different faculties and departments across the University can sell their products and services through the website. However, some of their vendors who also offer students in-person sales and payment were using a different outdated POS system.
With the demand for a seamless integration solution for an in-store POS system with the Magento website, as well as managing online and offline orders and inventory within the same platform across multiple store locations, they chose Magestore POS to enhance their unified online and offline eCommerce experience.
The challenges: Lack of order synchronization between the Magento website and the cafe shop
The store was working with a fragmented commerce landscape of the scalable eCommerce platform, and a very outdated point of sale system, which sold separate products and related services, each requiring a different login. The product owner has to manage products and inventory separately across different systems, and their customers can’t purchase products at a single storefront or in a single transaction, resulting in an outdated experience that doesn’t match the university’s high standards.
