It has come to our attention that the Magefan POS is officially discontinued. The Magefan Magento 2 POS system reached its end-of-life with version 2.3.12, following its final update on August 29, 2024.
The discontinuation has been across all Magefan POS editions (CE, EE, ECE) and plans (Basic, Plus, and Extra).
How the Magefan POS discontinuation affects new and existing users
Magefan POS termination means that it is no longer available for purchase or support, causing significant disruptions for Magefan’s existing users and limitations for new ones.
For new users seeking Magefan POS
Magefan POS is one of the top-rated POS systems for Magento retailers. It offers an easy-to-use interface with full basic features to handle common tasks like completing checkout, syncing orders across stores, and managing inventory efficiently. Its pricing plans are affordable, and the customer support is highly responsive.
However, since Magefan POS isn’t available for new implementations, new users can not purchase a Magefan POS license or install this extension. Therefore, it is advisable to find a Magefan POS alternative solution.
For current users of Magefan POS
End of support
According to Magefan’s confirmation, they continue to provide support for customers whose support period has not yet expired. The support period remains valid for 365 days from the date of purchase.
Once the support period ends, Magefan will no longer offer technical support for the Magento 2 POS extension.
Compatibility issues
Magefan point of sale is compatible with Magento versions 2.2.0 to 2.4.x. However, future updated versions of Magento may render the last supported version of Magefan POS incompatible. This incompatibility leads to system instability, loss of functionality, security vulnerabilities, and other critical issues.
No further enhancements
There will be no more added features or improvements to the POS. It comes with many limitations, especially for Magento retailers with growing and scalable businesses, as the outdated solution may fail to keep up with their evolving needs.
What users need to do when Magefan discontinues its POS
As a terminated POS solution is not healthy for your system both now and in the future, it is advisable to back up all your data and find a Magefan POS alternative for your system to ensure continued functionality and support.
